A social fable which combines everyday poetry with an ode to life in the slow lane. Off the beaten track of our consumerist society.
No-one knows much about Loïc. Only that he makes the best chips in town, between Promod and Easy Cash in the retail park. His food truck has become something of a local legend, and every day hundreds of customers queue up at his counter. Until the day when, at lunchtime, right in the middle of service, the young man decides to stop everything. He lowers his shutters for the last time to become someone else. This event wreaks havoc in the daily routine of the neighbourhood – and even catches the attention of the government…
That someone else is Richard, Loïc’s alter ego, an introvert who cuts loose, deciding to live his dream life by shutting himself off from the world. Here he is played by Valérian Guillaume, whose voice is transformed into prose via his keyboard. Between comedy and absurdity, Richard dans les étoiles opens the way to anti conformism and the idea of breaking away and raises the question of performance and our place in society. What are we worth if we are no longer productive? If we are no longer useful to others?
